Day 21 Make a Gingerbread House

Finished gingerbread house

Christmas is a time for family and this next Christmas activity is definitely something the whole family can get involved in. Making a Gingerbread house is so much fun and no doubt will soon become a Christmas Tradition in your house.

Make up a batch of Gingerbread. Either freehand or using a template (you can find hundreds of printable templates online) cut out your design and bake.

TOP TIP! Add crushed up boiled sweets to make window panes when baking your Gingerbread house.

Once cooled, get the kids to decorate the walls and the roof. Use icing pens, fondant icing, chocolate buttons, sweets, anything that takes your fancy.

Will you make a fairytale style Gingerbread house, or maybe an ice palace like Elsa’s using lots of white icing? You could even make a Nativity scene.

Allow your decorations to dry and then assemble using Royal icing to hold the walls and roof together.

We would love to see your Gingerbread Houses. Share your photos on our Facebook page, Instagram or Twitter using #CaptainChristmas.
