Why balloon animals have withstood the test of time

balloon modeling

Although there’s a lot about today’s high tech, high adrenaline kids’ parties that Granny and Grandad wouldn’t recognise, one thing they can probably relate to is balloon animals. Just as popular with kids today as they were with children 30, 40 or even 50 years ago, balloon animals really have stood the test of time. Of course, it’s not just animals. Flower hats, swords, even balloon bicycles that can be made in a matter of seconds are still delighting children up and down the country. So what is it about these balloon creations that means they still have a place in our hearts?

They’re fun to watch

If you’ve ever seen someone make a balloon animal, you’ll know just how much fun it is to watch. Having a professional create the inflatable menagerie makes the process even more enjoyable to see. Hire someone with experience working at kids’ parties and they should be able to make the balloon animals a central part of the celebration, enchanting the kids with their almost magical skills and creating unique and impressive balloon creatures for the children to enjoy.

Keep the audience guessing

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s a sausage dog! As a lot of twists and turns are required to create even a simple balloon animal, they keep the audience guessing right up until the last moment. This builds up a real sense of anticipation and delights kids when the finished results are revealed. And let’s be honest, us adults like trying to guess what it’ll be too!

Science Party balloon modelling

Kids get something to take away with them

When the balloon animals are complete, they’re handed out to the party guests to take them home with them. Kids love having something to take home at the end of the party, especially when it’s something as unique as a balloon animal or a balloon crown. They offer a bit of extra play value even after the party has finished. We all still remember being a bit sad as a child when your balloon dog eventually deflated.

Balloon animals can be tailored to your theme

Most professional kids’ entertainers should be able to tailor their balloon animals to fit with the theme of your party. If you’ve gone for an under the sea theme, you could have your balloon maker create brightly coloured fish like Nemo. A jungle theme could see inflatable monkeys, tigers and giraffes join the party, or your entertainer could create otherworldly aliens for a space-themed party. If you have a selfie area or a photo booth at the party, ask the entertainer to make giant glasses, wands and other props that can be used in the photos.

Balloon animals can be turned into a craft activity

If you have a relatively small and exclusive guest list or a number of balloon-trained kids’ entertainers, you could turn creating balloon animals into a craft activity. Ask the entertainers to demonstrate how to make a simple balloon animal and then have them help the kids to make their own. The children can then take these inflatable creatures home with them at the end of the party. How about adding some stick-on googly eyes to give a balloon animal a bit more character?
