Meet January’s Entertainer of the Month

Captain Scott dressed as a Pirate with a little girl

Professional actor Scott studied at East 15 alongside Tommy and Ricky. It’s also where he met his wife Rachael, who is in the CBeebies show Apple Tree House (see if you can spot Scott in one of the episodes too!) Following his time at East 15, Scott joined Captain Fantastic in 2011. In fact, he was the very first Captain!

Favourite party food? Got to be party ring biscuits!

Hobbies? I like playing golf and going to the gym. I go to the cinema a lot.

Pets? No. But if I could have any pet I would have a rhino. They are the best creatures in the world and nobody would mess with you if you were walking a rhino down the street!

What is your favourite type of party to host?

I love doing the science parties. They are something a bit different and they are suitable for all ages. Everybody can get involved and enjoy learning about the different experiments, even the adults! But I like doing all the different party types. They’ve often been booked months in advance, so the birthday child is really looking forward to it. I go to every party and work hard to make it a special day for that child and I love that the kids still talk about it six months later!

What is the most inventive thing you’ve seen at a party?

Well, I’ve been with Captain Fantastic for nearly 7 years, so I’ve seen a lot of kids parties. Jugglers on stilts. I’ve seen some amazing bouncy castles! I did a pirate party once and there was a bouncy castle shaped like a pirate ship! I’ve done parties in big hotels where there are four bouncy castles and a Cinderella look-alike. We don’t just do birthday parties, we do weddings, bah mitzvahs, and parties for lots of different cultures. Whether it’s dancing or music, people get really creative with their culture, which is amazing to see.

What’s the most memorable party you had as a child?

I remember when I was small, maybe at playgroup, we had a party with a magician. He flicked his wrist and a 6ft telescopic wand came out of his sleeve! That must have been 25 years ago and I still remember that! I think it just goes to show that the classics are the best, traditional entertainment shows with lots of opportunities to join in and interact with the entertainer.

What top tips do you have for parents booking a children’s entertainer for their party?

My top tip would be not to stress. I have so many parents call me up before a party worrying that this or that might not get done, but that’s what we’re there for. I’d say we’re like the ringmaster for the day, making sure everything runs smoothly and everyone has a great time. Honestly, all parents need to do is provide the food!

Themed parties always feel special. Make it a dress up party and then, when everyone arrives in costume, they instantly feel ready to party. That includes the parents too! Kids enjoy it far more when they see adults joining in.

If you could invite 3 celebs to one of your Captain Fantastic parties, who would they be and why?

Definitely Iron Man. He has lots of money so he could pay for everything and make it a really spectacular party. I’d invite Santa because he is always happy and he gives great presents. Last but not least it has to be Elsa. Kids still love singing Frozen songs and she’d bring something a bit special to any party.

Cheers, Scott!
